Intention Statement

I’ve always had a passion for film and television, and I’ve always dreamed of working in production. I graduated college 3 years ago with a Bachelor’s degree in English, after years of dreaming, I’ve finally decided to leave my job as a preschool teacher and attend Full Sail University.

I truly believe I am destined to work in the field of film and television because ever since my childhood, I’ve felt butterflies in my stomach while watching an enjoyable show or movie. I would become immersed into the world of the characters I was watching. It feels as though this is my purpose, and I believe this to be true.

After a few years of receiving much encouragement from my mother and reading the book “Jump”by Steve Harvey, I decided to attend graduate school. This was such a huge decision for me because I have never been the type of person who steps out of her comfort zone. My 8am-5pm job as a preschool teacher was definitely my comfort zone. However, I realized the only way to achieve my dreams was to take a leap of faith.

My goal in life is to produce meaningful content for people to relate to in their everyday lives. I want to allow people to escape the problems of their everyday lives for those 2 hours that I have their attention because that is what film does for me. I feel a profound connection to storytelling, and film allows me to tell fiction and non-fiction stories in a visual way. As I take more classes about this topic, I want to be able to find side paths that appeal to my interests. Over the next 12 months, I intend on improving my storytelling skills and I hope to make connections with people in the filmmaking industry.
